Poetry Out Loud is a national program that encourages high school students to learn about great poetry through memorization, performance, and competition. At ORRHS, we had over 100 students participating this year and 8 fantastic performers made it to the school wide competition. There were two rounds of poems:
The winner of our 2017 ORRHS Poetry Out Loud Competition, who performed "Domestic Situation" and "Winter", will advance to the Cape Cod Regionals on Sunday, March 5, 2017.
A round of applause is deserved for all of our students who competed! This was an absolutely amazing event!
Recently, the ORRHS Library Commons was able to purchase nine books, both non-fiction and fiction, with the support of the ORRHS GSA Club. These books are just the start of our LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning) collection and are meant to promote literature that reflects and honors the lives our students. It is our hope that these books provide support and create an environment that promotes safety and the fight for racial, gender, LGBTQ, and economic justice.
