"Finding voting records is not the easiest thing in the world. Here are some directions, adapted from a guide created by the library at Northwestern University:
To carry out a comprehensive search for the voting records of a particular country:
Note that you can also search by keyword.
To carry out a comprehensive search for the voting records of a particular country:
- Go to the UN Document Centre.
- Choose the main body in which you are interested. For example, the General Assemby. Click on "Resolutions" and select a session.
- Notice that in the General Assembly, many resolutions are labeled "without vote." There won't be voting records for those.
- Write down the document number (also called the resolution symbol) for resolutions that are not listed "without vote." For example, A/RES/64/292. Make note of the topic, such as "The Human Right to Water & Sanitation."
- Go to UNBISnet.
- Find the heading for "Voting Records." Click on "New Keyword Search."
- You will see the option to "Search by." Make sure the drop-down menu is set to "UN resolution symbol."
- Type the document number/resolution symbol that you wrote down.
- Information about the resolution will come up. Scroll down to find your country.
Note that you can also search by keyword.
