Information to Find: 

  • Title: 1st slide - name of photographer, with subtitle (i.e. Alfred Stieglitz, Father of Modern Photography).
  • Biographical information: 2nd/3rd slide- include when and where the photographer was born, their background growing up and how they became photographers- who funded them, what kind of jobs were they commissioned to do, what was the intention behind their work – including artistic intention as well as satisfying their clientele.
  • Photographic work: 3rd/4th slide- reference camera used, types of lighting (available, studio, etc.), where pictures were taken, how pictures were taken (spontaneous, posed, etc.) processes used in developing pictures, kind of film, any idiosyncrasies associated with your photographer and the work they produced, that is, what, if anything, was unique to this photographer’s technique- what was this person known for doing with their work and how they did it.
  • Images of Photographic prints: 5th-20th slide- choose prints that exemplify this master photographer’s work. Imagery is to clear, not pixelated and is to fill slide frame. Include title of photograph, and the date or year it was taken or published. If you are unable to find any of the above information after looking into at least three websites on this photographer, include a relevant quote from your artist instead. Please make sure all text on your image slides is placed on the bottom o each slide, and is in a text and font that serves the image rather than distracts the viewer’s attention from the photograph.
  • Works Cited: final, concluding slide- record all websites and links used or referneced in the creation of your power point.

Wikipedia Users: 

If you are starting your research adventure on Wikipedia, I want you to keep a few things in mind...
  1. While artists' webpages are not vandalized as often as other hot topic pages, it still does happen, so be vigilant and check the History and Talk tabs. Looking at the Talk tab will also help you see how accurate and valid the information is.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page to view the Notes, References, Sources, and External links. These are very important to checking for validity and helps you to find more information. 
  3. If you are using information for Wikipedia in your presentation, CITE THE PAGE. If you do not cite your information, you are committing PLAGIARISM
